Shari Trahan was born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and is a 2010 graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Upon obtaining her bachelor’s degree, Shari went onto attend Southern University Law Center. During her time at Southern University Law Center, Shari was a teaching assistant and served as Student Bar Association President. Upon graduation, Shari clerked for Chief Judge Penelope Richard of the 38th Judicial District Court.
Shari then sat for the Louisiana bar exam, passed, and subsequently sat for the Georgia bar exam the following July. Upon passing the Georgia bar, Shari embarked upon a career in public service as a Prosecutor for both the Fulton County and Clayton County District Attorney’s Offices in Atlanta, Georgia. There she prosecuted cases in Trial Division, Crimes against Women and Children and Non-Complex Unit.
Though Shari has always had a passion for people, she left public service to become in-house counsel for GEICO. Upon gaining invaluable experience on how the insurance company evaluates cases, Shari felt her expertise would be better served fighting for the rights of those that have been injured rather than working for a billion dollar company. Thus, in 2022, Shari founded the Law Office of Shari Trahan, a law firm specializing in personal injury.
With a heart committed to advocacy and empowerment, Shari serves as Vice Chair and Board Member of the Black Women’s Mental Health Institute, where she champions mental wellness and resilience within marginalized communities. Her passion for service extends further as a dedicated Child Advocate for Fulton County CASA, tirelessly ensuring that the voices of our most vulnerable are heard and protected.
Additionally, Shari is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. as well as an adjunct Professor/Bar Fellow at the Southern University Law Center.
Beyond her legal endeavors, Shari's zest for life is evident in her love for travel, fashion, and, most importantly, her cherished moments with family and friends.
